From early dawn, the plateau in front of Despotika Winery looks like a giant bee hive. The power generator unit is buzzing, technical crew are installing cranes around the vineyard, an ad-hoc director's room has been set up... Clear skies and sunshine have also decided to contribute and join forces with creative forces and state-of-the-art technology to make a promotional video for this year's celebration of Prokupac Day.
Right in the vineyard of Prokupac... Because it is the right place to show why Prokupac is so special. The director has the task to show all the beauty and authenticity of Prokupac, the flagship Serbian grape variety. Prokupac is created owing to cooperation of nature (sun, earth, water and wind) and man (vinegrower).
The video dedicated to Prokupac is being produced by the film company Family Film, which is best known for recent stay of Bear Grylls, who shot an episode of Bear Grylls Wild Adventure in the wilderness of Stara Planina (East Serbia). So far, this production company has also shot high-budget commercials for Ferrari, Samsung, Ferrero Rocher, Vodafone, IKEA, etc. And now their creative team has decided to present Prokupac to the general public. The place is teeming with activities... While the assistants are digging a 1.5 meter hole in one corner of the vineyard for the needs of the video, artificial rain is being prepared. At the same time, a stage is being set up in the archive cellar of Despotika winery, which will turn winery's premises into the most luxurious restaurant like the ones in Manhattan. Actors and extras have arrived.
Support is also provided by the entire team of Despotika winery, from hospitality and wine tourism staff to workers involved in ongoing harvest in the vineyards. More than 30 members of the film crew occupied the entire winery throughout the day and filming lasted well into the night.
The premiere of the video as part of this year's celebration of Prokupac Day is scheduled for the second half of September.
This year's Prokupac Day in Serbia is celebrated under the auspices of USAID.
