SUCCESS OF WINES FROM EAST EUROPE AT CONCOURS MONDIAL DE BRUXELLES 2020

At Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB), this year perfectly hosted by the Moravian wine capital Brno from September 4 – 6, wines from Central and Eastern European countries surprised 350 international jury members. For the first time ever more than 1,000 out of 8,500 samples came from countries stretching from Czech Republic to Kazakhstan, from Poland to Armenia.

At this competition, wines from Bulgaria shone with 4 big gold medals, 10 gold and 14 silver medals. Romania, Moldova and Turkey finished with one big gold medal each. Moldova also won 7 gold medals, Romania 6 and Turkey 5 gold medals. Concerning other Eastern European countries, Slovak wineries won 11 gold and 24 silver medals, while Hungary and Armenia won one gold and 4 silver medals each.

If we consider our region, Croatia won 1 gold medal and 5 silver, North Macedonia 2 gold and 4 silver medals and Serbia won 2 gold and 1 silver medal. For the first time, Montenegro participated in this competition, which also resulted in 2 gold and 1 silver medal. Slovenia won a total of 4 silver medals at this year's competition.
