KIŠ WINERY (SREM REGION)

  Slavko Kiš is one of the most famous wine-makers in Sremski Karlovci (the fourth generation of vintners in the Kiš family), and nowadays he and his grandchildren Predrag and Tamara Crnković continue this family's vintner tradition which dates back from 1830, the year when Stevan Kiš settled from Czech republic, bought his first vineyard and started wine production.

Time passes, and the manner of presenting wine and marketing approach have changed. Construction of a new cellar is in progress, while the production process is also improved technologically. However, what remains constant is continuous focus on quality and production of varietal wines.

Prior to the World War II, grape varieties such as Slankamenka, Dinka and Plemenka were found in vineyards owned by Kiš family. After the World War II, grape varieties: Riesling, Chardonnay, Blaufrankisch, Merlot and Blauer Portugieser, were planted in an attempt to improve quality. Kiš winery vineyards cover 11 hectares of land, with annual wine production reaching about 50,000 liters.

Kiš family takes great pride in their  brand - Kišov bermet, which is produced according to an old family recipe. Its production never ceased. It has always been produced in small quantity to meet family needs. Only 15 years ago, Slavko Kiš revealed to the market this desert wine, which has become this winery's seal of recognition ever since.
