Across the wine world, information is awaited with impatience as to whether this year's edition of PROWEIN, the most important professional wine fair in Dusseldorf will take place due to growing concern regarding the spread of the corona virus epidemic.
German magazine Falstaff has unofficially received information from well-informed source at the Düsseldorf Fair that ProWein will be canceled this year, but an official confirmation by the fair is expected in the course of the day and an alternative date may be announced. This news comes to us just a day after the world's largest tourism fair in Berlin has been canceled as well.
This is a major blow to both the business of the Düsseldorf trade fair and numerous wineries and wine professionals, since airline tickets and hotels were booked as early as November last year.
Air Serbia has already announced that it allows all buyers of flight tickets to destinations affected by the virus in March to receive a free date change and rebooking.
