DIBONIS WINERY (REGION OF SUBOTICA-HORGOŠ SANDY TERRAINS)

Dibonis Winery opened in 2008. Owner of the winery, Laslo Boni, is the fourth generation of vine-growing family which has its roots in Baranja region of Croatia. Laslo Boni's wine story began after his relocation to the north of Vojvodina and purchase of a traditional countryside cottage called "salaš" with vineyard in the Palić wine region, in the village of Radanovac. Currently, vineyards cover an area of 5 ha, but Laslo Boni has plans to expand his vineyards in the coming years. Vineyards are planted on a mixed soil: humus on the surface and yellow loess underneath, which is perfectly suited for vine-growing. There are 45000 grapevines on the surface of 5 ha, which is 2.5 times more than in classical planting formation. Laslo decided to grow in his vineyards high-quality international grape varieties, such as: Muscat Ottonel, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir,  Blaufrankisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz. The winery is one of a few in Serbia which grow Shiraz grapes.

The winery is also unique for production of "ice wine", whose production is rather untypical owing to specific climatic conditions which are required. Grapes get frozen at the temperature -7*C or -8*C.  Then, they are pressed. Of course, not every year is favourable for production of ice wine. For example, over the last few years, the best climatic conditions for production of ice wine were recorded in 2008.
