SALAMIS ISLAND TO HOST BIWC 2022

The major regional wine competition in the Balkans (Balkans International Wine Competition - BIWC) will be held this year from June 1st to June 3rd on the Greek island of Salamis. Thus, the practice of changing every year the host country in the Balkans will continue. After Serbia and North Macedonia, wines from the best wineries in the Balkans will be presented in Greece before a panel of international judges to highlight wines that best reflect the richness and diversity of the Balkans. This year's edition of the BIWC competition takes place under the auspices of the Municipality of Salamis. After the competition, the Balkan Wine Festival will be held in Sofia from  June 16th  to June 18th, 2022.

After a successful first decade, this competition is ambitiously entering the next decade. Galina Niforou, director of the BIWC competition, emphasizes that this year the competition enters a new decade with a lot of optimism and energy to make Balkan wines even more recognizable on the world wine map. On behalf of the BIWC team, she is thankful to Mr George Panagopoulos, Mayor of Salamis for his warm welcome and desire to host the BIWC 2022 competition on an island with a rich history.
