During my recent stay in Župa, I also made an ad hoc visit to Milanov Podrum (Milan’s Wine Cellar)  in the village of Venčac. The wine cellar Milanov podrum was named after the owner Milan Aleksić, one of the young Župa winemakers who brought new energy and stirred somewhat inert mentality of local winemakers. (more…)

It’s Sunday morning. After a cup of good homemade coffee, I set out to meet Bora, a fellow who returned to Župa in order to restore old family vineyards of Prokupac on Kusak hill after 5 years of previous working in the vineyards of Dveri Pax winery in Slovenia. I was somewhat hesitant whether to visit Župa during the Župa Harvest Feast. The very thought of festive atmosphere, large crowds, shanzhai products, cheap underwear made in Arilje, soy burgers and plonk sold in plastic bottles brought me close to the brink of cancelling the trip. (more…)

I personally became aware of this a few years ago when one of the former mayors of Belgrade decided that instead of corruption in city institutions, he should fight alcohol consumption in the city, so he prohibited selling alcoholic beverages on the territory of Belgrade after 22h.
